The summer will be sporty at the House of Press Cartoons in Morges. From June 22 to September 16, she exhibits nearly 140 drawings by around thirty artists from Switzerland, France and Germany.

This new exhibition echoes the major summer events (Euro in Germany, Paris Olympics). Meetings which are regularly sketched by press cartoonists, just like controversies linked to sport and the stars of the field.

For this exhibition, entitled “There will be sport!”, more than 700 drawings were sent, but those responsible only retained a part of them, notably excluding winter sports (no season) or tennis ( an exhibition has already been mounted in the past around Roger Federer).

Soulcié in the spotlight

The drawings were divided into themes: football (with its stars, its FIFA, its supporters, its failings), the Paris Olympics, cycling, the climate, aquatic sports and even women in sport. A specific space has been reserved for the guest of honor of this exhibition, Soulcié, press cartoonist at L’Equipe.

“With his lively tone specific to his universe, his often disproportionate graphic style, Soulcié seduces with an inspired humor that hits the mark. A fan of the absurd, he remains very up to date with current events and never misses his target,” write those responsible for the Morgian museum.

A comic book author in his early days, Soulcié then turned to press cartoons, following in the footsteps of his idols Cabu, Pétillon, Willem and Gary Larson. He has collaborated on numerous publications such as La Revue Dessinée, Télérama, Fluide Glacial and Fakir. He also officiates at 28 minutes on Arte. In 2014, he joined L’Equipe where, twice a week, he covers the sports news.
