It is an establishment especially renowned for its gastronomic restaurant starred in the Michelin Guide. But the Auberge À la Bonne Idée de Saint-Jean-aux-Boisin the Compiègne forest in the Oise, also offers a more accessible menu, with as much quality as ever on the plate.

Caesar’s Table » puts on the menu typical dishes of a “ cooked French cuisine to indulge yourself during a two-hour meal or in one hour during the lunch break,” explains Michelin-starred chef Sébastien Tantot. Every week, his menu changes.

“Cooked” and “comforting” dishes

For example, you can taste “a real traditional blanquette of veal”, duck with orange, a Comté soufflé, celery remoulade, bouillabaisse, maroilles tart, pollack quenelle, eggplant caviar. grilled, an aioli, a red fruit pavlova or even “a good sauerkraut”.

In short, “comforting” dishes, sums up the chef. All prepared “with products identical to those on the gourmet menu from small producers”.

We don’t go into dressing as with the gastronomic menu. People can come and enjoy themselves in the dining room or on the terrace. It’s a real restaurant in its own right, we don’t make fun of our customers. In Paris, an identical menu costs at least €60.

Local residents don’t know

Especially since the setting of this renowned establishment in Saint-Jean-aux-Bois is unique in its kind. Of the refined tables in a room with an authentic atmosphere, the restaurant also offers an outdoor terrace very close to the beautiful garden of the inn, its flowers and its greenery.

But yet, the menu of “La Table de César” struggling to attract locals. “Many people who pass by the inn don’t know that we offer this menu in addition to the gourmet one. La Table de César attracts more customers from Soissons (Aisne) than from Compiègne or Pierrefonds,” laments the owner of the inn.

“I would like local residents to be more interested in it, yes, because it’s a real kitchen. We are not a luxury castle.”
