Indochine unveils its “Swan Song”: what is this song about and what does it have to do with the Euro?

After weeks of maintaining the suspense, Indochine unveiled its new title on Friday, accompanied by a music video.

On May 16, Indochine made a mysterious tease by posting a photo on Instagram where the members of the group are holding a sign with the date 06/14/2024. At the same time, TF1 announced exclusively that a new song from Indochina would be used to musically accompany the Euro on the first channel.

June 14, the opening day of the Euro, arrived and with it, the promised new title, entitled Swan song. Fans will not fail to see in this date a nod to the next album, announced by enigmatic publications and advertisements around the Salingers, and which will be the group’s 14th.

In the clip released a few hours after the audio release of this new song, we see the group on stage surrounded by an eclectic audience. Nicola Sirkis plays a rainbow folk guitar. Images of young people, especially girls, in an open truck crossing the forest, then the city, flash by. Images of the group’s live performance appear on giant screens and on truck canvases. These young people seem determined and serene as they sing, even if the lyrics of the song suggest them on the run (“ Don’t look back, they will always be behind you “).

“The bastards, the heroines / The warriors, the orphans / Assaulting the tombs / It’s the heart, the song of the swans / Be strong, even stronger” sings Nicola Sirkis. It’s about civil war, “girls town “, of “ chills and rage ” and of “ amazed boys » of the courage of the girls. Note that all the choirs are done by the children of the members of the group, notably Jules, Théa and Alice-Tom Sirkis.

“Already a hit”?

A hymn to the courage to stand up and fight in an uncertain future, a hymn also to the strength of “girls”. The catchy music fits with the energy of the Euro for the musical decoration of TF1 programs devoted to the football competition. The lyrics stick much better to a political and societal revolution than to a sporting event, and other news.

In any case, fans are won over by this title: “ already a hit “, “ amazing “, “ Magnificent “, “ a hymn of hope and freedom! “, “ already addicted “, “ thank you for this title », We can read this Friday on social networks. And even singer Hoshi took a break in the studio to play the song over and over:

We are now waiting for news about the album.

The previous album was released in September 2017. The band was then very busy on stage, with the 13 Tour in 2018, which ended in Lille, and the ambitious Central Tour in the stadiums, which passed through the stadium Pierre-Mauroy. Despite nearly forty-five years of career, Nicola Sirkis is clearly not about to call it quits. He was also involved with The voice of the North and the late Jonathan Destin against school bullying in 2019.
