A sixty artists will be represented during the annual meeting of l’association Confluent d’Art. Like every year, art will take place in the abbey church of Bernay (Eure) for twenty days, from Sunday November 10 to Saturday November 30, 2024.
The association, which has existed for more than 70 years, wants to bring together all types of art. “This year, we will even have an author », declares Josiane Beck-Boes, president of Confluent d’Art.
Four honorary artists
For this new edition, four artists will be guests of honor and several will be present during the event.
Johan Cantournetyoung artist, will attend the opening. “He goes around the world with his performances,” says Josiane Beck-Boes. At the same time as he paints, he composes and recites texts. »
Other artist presents: Roxanna Alvarado. This Chilean woman is a master glassmaker. “This art form is new for us,” says the president of Confluent d’Art. It’s rare to see them in plastic arts exhibitions. » Roxanna Alvarado had already come to the Bernay abbey for the 2017 edition.
This year, she will present works outside of her specialty of glass weaving. “She will expose two painted glasseslike the old masters in cathedrals. She practices contemporary art, it’s quite abstract,” explains the organizer.
Louis Caillaud of Angerswho died in 2007, will be represented by his grandson. “He was one of the masters ofkind of modern. He was part of the same group as Matisse, slips Josiane Beck-Boes. His grandson lends us four works. »
Unlike the other works in the show, those by Louis Caillaud d’Angers will not be for sale.
To finish, Sylvie Mazereau works ceramics “like lace”. “It’s worked extremely finely and they are often works in suspension,” announces Josiane Beck-Boes.
Workshops on the five senses
During the weekends of November 16 and 17of November 23 and 24 and the November 30thvarious free workshops will be offered. They all have one thing in common: they revolve around of the five senses. “It’s a universal theme and it’s quite easy for many art forms,” highlights Josiane Beck-Boes.
Workshops will begin on Saturday, November 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For this first meeting, Emilie Tallet (Vocem) will propose to discover hearing through matter.
“The material is being worked on a lot at the moment. We add sand, earth, paper to create something. Participants will be able to practice using sounds to understand the coincidence between the harmonics of painting and music », explains the president of Confluent d’Art.
Emilie Tallet will lead the same workshop on Saturday November 30.
The same day and November 23, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the writer Claire Maillard will sign his books. “We asked him not to sign like the Europeans, but the American way,” says the organizer.
Visitors will therefore not come with their copy under their arm or freshly purchased for a “simple signature”. Instead, the author will read certain passages of his book to the public.
Sunday, November 17 and Saturday, November 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Catherine Lefeuvre will organize a workshop on smell. “She is a specialist in scents and she works with a painter to create coherence between scents and the visual arts,” explains Josiane Beck-Boes.
Seven scented paintings and colored will help bind odors and paints.
The last workshop, entitled “ touch, not look » will be hosted by Emma PaulineSunday, November 24. This meeting will allow us to highlight the material, such as sand or earth, used very often in painting today.
