In Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary is celebrating its tenth anniversary by paying tribute to a decade of exhibitions that have enriched the Moroccan cultural scene.

Since its opening, it has hosted more than 35 major exhibitions, displaying works by world-renowned artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Delacroix and Giacometti, while highlighting the talent of Moroccan artists.

“Even in my wildest dreams, I would never have imagined being able to organize exhibitions for such prestigious artists,” confides Mehdi Kotbi, president of the National Museum Foundation. For the occasion, two monumental works by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, already exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, embody strength and femininity.

The anniversary also coincides with the exhibition “Cobra: a snake with many heads”, highlighting the artistic audacity of the post-war period. The Mohammed VI Museum, now an essential place of culture in Rabat, continues to open up to the world, soon hosting an exhibition on Omani art.
