Ben Barbaud, the boss of Hellfest, raises his voice. Exasperated by what he calls “lack of support” elected officials from the Clisson agglomeration, where the major metal festival takes place every year, he points out the “lack of political courage” of Clisson Sèvre and Maine Agglo.
At the origin of his anger: the necessary work on the wastewater evacuation network of the festival site. Asked by West France on this subject, Ben Barbaud says he refuses to assume the costs alone and asks the agglomeration to contribute to the costs.
“Cash cow”
“We would just like to have a little better than a sanitation network planned for a village of five homes. Is that too much to ask for the most important contemporary music festival in France, voted the most emblematic event in the Pays de la Loire region? » Remember that in 2024, Hellfest brought together 60,000 festival-goers every day between June 27 and 30. “Continuing to take us for a cash cow, while coming to enjoy a glass of Muscadet at the festival, is no longer acceptable, asserts Ben Barbaud. It takes political courage, otherwise we will end up packing our bags to move to more grateful territory. »
