the essential
The French team begins its fall tour against Japan this Saturday, November 9 (9:10 p.m.), at the Stade de France. A meeting which will not be broadcast on the France Télévisions channels.
Once is not customary, but to watch the Blues, you will not have to tune into France 2, this Saturday, November 9, at 9:10 p.m. No, France Télévisions has lost the rights to the French's next two autumn tours (2024 and 2025) to TF1. The “A” will thus broadcast the first meeting of the XV of France against Japan.

This will also be the case for the two big shocks against New Zealand (November 16) and Argentina (November 22). For these three meetings, TF1 will launch its new duo of commentators: Thomas Lombard and Stefan Etcheverry. They replace Benjamin Kayser and François Trillo, targets of criticism during the 2023 World Cup.
The Six Nations in the viewfinder?
For several years, the leading channel in Europe in terms of audience has been establishing itself in the audiovisual world of rugby. A strategy which allowed it to broadcast the Blues summer tour to Japan in 2021, but above all, the twenty best matches of the 2023 World Cup.

TF1 does not intend to stop there. Indeed, the channel would now be eyeing the Six Nations Tournament, the exclusive property of France Télévisions since 1992. The “A” would have a generous budget to win the rights to the competition from 2026. A call for tenders will be launched in 2025.
