From June 2 to 4, 2024, Faouëtaise artist Corinne Jacob exhibited her engravings for the 12e edition of the animation Manifestampe, from Saint-Sulpice, in Paris, in the company of Francis Rollet, artist engraver from Riantec, whose workshops she regularly attends. Corinne Jacob is also the soul of the Ateliers du Faouët (Morbihan), Place des Halles, where she welcomes artists in exhibitions, from April to October. An ideal place, with its high white walls which highlight the works and its garden which encourages you to extend your visit.

Twenty years of artistic exhibitions

We took over the premises with the painter Oscar Yana in 2004. The common objective was to create a space for artistic expression, first for us, then we decided to open it to others. This is how Les Ateliers du Faouët was born “, remembers Corinne Jacob. The first invited artist was the engraver Jean-Claude Le Floch, from Lorient, followed by many others. “I have always had a taste for collective artistic adventures and this sharing allowed me to meet some very wonderful people. » Today, the Workshops are a sure value in the cultural life of Faouët, a place where artists and the public like to meet.

Works marked by symbolism

Corinne Jacob has cultivated a passion for engraving since the Beaux-Arts in 1979, and then studied lithography at the Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. “ In engraving, my preferred materials were wood and linoleum, until my participation in Francis Rollet’s workshops, which introduced me to etching. We are four members of his workshop to exhibit in June, in Saint-Sulpice, in Paris, as part of Manifestampe, an associative activity around engraving and printmaking, which brings together artists from all over Europe “, confided the artist.

In her works, Corinne Jacob is inspired by the history of art, symbolism and Brittany. After Sainte-Barbe or Saint-François D’Assise, she is currently working on Epona, Celtic goddess of fertility and the world of horses. The artistic program of the Ateliers du Faouët is complete until 2025. The next exhibition Build the imaginationwith Christine Sibre, ceramist, and Christophe Deboffle, digital artist, takes place from June 8 to 30, 2024. We are also thinking of renewing the Les Couleurs du Noir workshop, as we did with the late Georges Point and the idea of an “empty workshop” is also being considered. “, adds Corinne Jacob.
