The Bouchon d’Or of pétanque will experience its 33rd this weekende edition in Montreux. Focus on an event which welcomed many champions, but also stars such as Henri Salvador, Manolo and Pierre Richard.
Livio Grando has memories in spades. The president of the Montreux bowling alley has experienced every edition of the Bouchon d’Or since its creation in 1991. And when discussing the anecdotes that have marked him, he mentions a list as long as his arm. “ The high point of the event was the participation in 1992 of a certain Henri Salvador. There was even a year when he was present simultaneously with Pierre Richard! »
And after the singer and the actor, several other big names came to Montreux. We can also cite Gypsy King soloist Manolo, or Sébastien Loeb’s former co-pilot, Daniel Elena. “ I think it’s thanks to the friendly atmosphere that we managed to establish that brought all these little people to come “, said Livius Grandus.
Philippe Suchaud will be there, just like anonymous people
It must be said that at Bouchon d’Or, the result does not matter. And this will be the case once again this year. Rather than talking about a tournament, Livio Grando prefers the term exhibition. “ There are international level players, like the 14-time world champion Philippe Suchaud. But also good level Swiss teams. Then, finally, the local teams. My goal is for them to be able to meet these high-level athletes. »
