The Citizenship, Proximity and Inclusion unit of the Cité des Arts is strengthening its commitment to audiences far removed from culture, by proposing a series of varied and inclusive initiatives.
The promotion of citizenship, access to culture and social inclusion are essential priorities at the heart of its mission, and the action of the Cité des Arts extends to many areas.
Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) & Handi’Arts
The unit sets up innovative programs for audiences who are often left behind. Among them, the Handi’Arts system, which supports 156 students registered at the conservatory through adapted artistic workshops, as well as specific actions for people with disabilities or eating disorders, such as IME (Medical Institutes) workshops. Educational).
The unit is also working on the creation of treasure hunts to discover the Cité des Arts in a fun way, an original way to explore culture while having fun. These actions aim to make art accessible to everyone, including audiences who are prevented from or far from traditional cultural circuits. Everything is done to reach as many people as possible, with more than 25 discovery game visits organized at the Cité des Arts, bringing together nearly 500 participants.
Actions in schools: At the level of children
Artistic education is at the heart of its concerns with significant interventions in schools.
This year, 5,000 students, from 169 classes, will benefit from artistic initiatives through workshops led by 4 participating musicians. These actions will culminate with three concerts at the Opéra Comédie, allowing young people to discover the artistic world in a prestigious setting. The actions concern students from primary to high school, as well as young people in leisure centers, houses for all (MPT), social centers, IME, ITEP, and other institutions. No less than 30 school shows are planned this year, reaching more than 9,000 students.
Proximity and inclusion actions for all
The unit also strives to diversify its interventions, by setting up parent-child awareness workshops in partnership with the CAF Social Center L’ile aux famille, as well as Catalan rumba workshops with the MPT Albertine Sarazin in partnership with Cap Gély and Fontcarrade college. These initiatives aim to create links between families and promote social inclusion through artistic and cultural activities accessible to all.
A strengthened partnership approach
To support these projects, the conservatory has signed 13 agreements with local partners, thus strengthening cooperation between cultural, social and educational actors in the region. In addition, a new position dedicated to priority neighborhoods has been created to intensify local actions and allow better inclusion of all residents.
A commitment beyond the walls
The teams also deploy actions outside the walls, to meet those who do not have easy access to cultural spaces. Workshops, shows and collection of lyrics.
