It may be legitimate to wonder why Salma Hayek continues to work despite the colossal fortune of her husband, billionaire François-Henri Pinault. In a recent interview with WSJ Magazinethe actress explained this choice.

First and foremost, both spouses preferred to manage their finances separately, without this being specified in a prenuptial contract. More generally, the Hollywood star wants to maintain his financial independence, but also aims to continue to increase his income.

“I support many aspects of my life on my own,” the 58-year-old actress said. “I put pressure on myself to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now I decided I wanted to earn more. »

A question of principles

Born into a wealthy family in Mexico, Salma Hayek saw her father lose his fortune when she was in her twenties, becoming the financial support of her loved ones after settling in Los Angeles. An experience which undoubtedly explains his particular relationship with money.

However, if Salma Hayek thought that by earning a lot of money this would no longer be an issue, it was not. Ironically, since her marriage to the French billionaire in 2009, many people have come to see her to talk to her about money!

“Strangers come up to me who aren’t even friends, but who think we should be friends because they’re rich too,” she added, dismayed.

For his part, François-Henri Pinault finds his partner’s independence “sexy”, so that’s the main thing!
