Victoire de la musique in 2016, Santa, a 31-year-old French singer known as the voice of the electro-rock group Hyphen Hyphen, also flies solo. On May 31, she released a first album entitled “Recommence-moi”, which combines current sounds and the neo-variety dear to the artist.

His voice is reminiscent of the biggest names in pop music and his words resonate like those of Michel Berger. With her punk-rock spirit, the French singer Santa, known for being the voice of the group Hyphen Hyphen for almost ten years, releases a first solo album entitled “Recommence-moi”.

The artist’s personal career took off two years ago, somewhat by chance, with the title “Salted Popcorn”, certifying his first EP platinum. “These songs were not intended to leave my room. Because I found them terribly immodest and I had written them in a moment of urgency, almost selfish,” explains the singer in 12h45 of May 30. But Santa lets himself be convinced by his friends from the group Hyphen Hyphen to release the title.

A big voice

Sometimes compared, for her voice, to Céline Dion, France Gall or Véronique Sanson, Santa admits to accepting with pleasure this comparison with these icons of song: “I really hope in my turn that my songs will accompany people’s lives a little” , she smiled.

With this first album “Recommence-moi”, Santa makes a real shift, moving from Hyphen Hyphen and her Anglo-Saxon electro-rock to the singer with a French neo-variety voice. On eleven tracks, including “Les tears ne coulant pas” which she shares with singer Christophe Willem, Santa reveals a soft, powerful and simple voice, which breaks deliciously when she pushes the decibels.

Used to spectacular shows, like when she played suspended forty meters from the ground in Brussels with her piano, Santa will defend this first album at the Montreux Jazz Festival. There is no doubt that this concert promises to be dizzying.
