the essential
The event, which aims to make the 7th Art accessible to as many people as possible, will take place on Thursday June 13 at the Jean Montsarrat center in Viguier, and on Friday the 14th at the Le Colisée cinema. Yves Jeuland will present three of his documentaries there.

Because culture is a right, several actors come together to make it accessible to as many people as possible. This is about cinema: two days during the “Special Days” will highlight the work of a local director. At the helm, we find the cultural commission of the Audoise Federation of Secular Works (Faol)-Ligue 11, the Friends of Cinoch’ as well as the Jean Montsarrat social and cultural center in Viguier. “We are very fond of partnerships”, confirms Alain Baures, vice-president of the Faol. Working on the said cultural commission but also vice-president of the Friends of Cinoch’, Laurence Béart confirms this idea of “develop cinema differently, in a transversal way, and bring in a new audience”. “Micro madness” referent of the Jean Montsarrat center and co-president of the Cultur’Ailes association, Belkher Riiff also says he “delighted to welcome these days at Le Viguier, and to promote access to culture for the residents of the neighborhood”.

Mendès-France, Montand and Frêche

Placed “at the crossroads of culture and popular education”these Special Days make a point of highlighting a local filmmaker: “We have a very rich heritage in this area in our territory, with many directors and actors”. It is more precisely Yves Jeuland and his work which are on display in this second edition: a mini-retrospective where the author will present three of his documentary films, as well as a favorite. “Faol, Friends of Cinoch’and social center: I am attached to these three institutions”indicates the one for whom responding to this invitation was obvious. “Of course, I had to choose a few films out of the thirty that I have directed. But on this occasion, I realized that I never stopped taking down the posters that were in my childhood bedrooms, ‘teenager and student’.

And if Yves Jeuland’s documentary dedicated to Charles Chaplin does not appear on the program for these days (notably because of its length), the other films selected are each dedicated to a character who had a lasting impact on the director. Thursday June 13At Jean Montsarrat centerthe public will thus be able to immerse themselves in the life of Pierre-Mendès-France (Mendes, Franceat 10 a.m.) andYves Montand (Montand is ours, at 14 hours). Please note that these sessions will be free. The day after Friday the 14thAt the movie theater The Coliseum (paid sessions, at the usual rate), return at 4 p.m. on the extraordinary personality of Georges Frêche (President). Then at 8:30 p.m., Yves Jeuland chose to program the film “Caesar and Rosalie” (Claude Sautet, 1972), notably with Romy Schneider and… Yves Montand. “While we have watched it most often on television, this will be an opportunity to see this film again on the big screen, and moreover in a restored version”. Laurence Béart confirms: “It’s super important to see it in a cinema”.

During these two days, Yves Jeuland will also interact with the spectators at the end of each of these sessions. An opportunity to involve all audiences in the “magic” of the 7th Art: “See films big, and see films together”.
