Cherry, strawberry, zucchini… Seasonal fruits and vegetables in June

As the month of June begins, RMC Conso draws up a list of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

From starter to dessert, our plates will be filled with new products in June. While the end of May rhymed with grayness and bad weather, the month of June is supposed to bring summer and its share of new seasonal fruits and vegetables. If certain products from previous seasons and months are still available in our stalls, it is difficult not to get lost if you want to eat while respecting the seasonality of these products in France or imported from nearby countries. RMC Conso helps you see things more clearly.

The beginning of cabbages, the end of asparagus

Every month, new species of fruits and vegetables come across. When garlic and cabbage (broccoli, flower and smooth) appear, asparagus and endive are at the “end of season” and will soon disappear from the shelves. Here is a summary of “seasonal” vegetables in June:

  • Artichoke
  • Eggplant
  • Asparagus
  • Swiss chard
  • Broccoli
  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Mushroom
  • Cauliflower
  • Cabbage-smooth
  • Kohlrabi
  • Cucumber
  • Zucchini
  • Spinach
  • Endive
  • Fennel
  • Bean
  • Bean
  • Turnip
  • Onion
  • Potato
  • Bell pepper
  • Peas
  • Radish
  • Salad

According to the Biocoop store chain, specializing in the sale of organic and seasonal products, certain vegetables, known as being seasonal, will be able to be sold without being produced in France. Thus, carrots, leeks and peppers are classified in the “closest imported” category.

On the fruit side

The return of summer is often synonymous with fruits, particularly red ones (cherry, strawberry or even raspberry). The complete list of seasonal fruits for the month of June:

  • Apricot
  • Pineapple
  • Banana
  • Cherry
  • Lemon
  • Fig
  • Strawberry
  • Raspberry
  • Mango
  • Melon
  • Blueberry
  • Nectarine
  • Orange
  • Watermelon
  • Fishing
  • Apple
  • Plum
  • Tomatoes

Just like vegetables, most seasonal fruits are not all produced in France, but rather “as close as possible”, Biocoop once again specifies. For example, pineapple, lemon, raspberry, mango, blueberry, nectarine, watermelon and peaches. Certain fruits are completely included in the list of seasonal fruits produced on our territory: apricot, strawberry or even melon.
