Explanations from the Esprit de Fès Foundation
In an update published this Tuesday, the organizing foundation of the 27th edition of the Fez Festival of Sacred Music of the World reacted to the publications of fans who reported not having been able to attend the concert of international artist Sami Yusuf, although that they have paid for their tickets.

The foundation described these publications as “highly exaggerated” regarding “limited incidents” that occurred on the sidelines of the concert.

She specified that Sami Yusuf’s concert, which began at 9 p.m. at Bab Al Makina, was a great success, offering an artistic and musical performance which delighted the vast majority of spectators. This show attracted an exceptional attendance of 5,000 spectators, with many fans coming from Morocco and abroad.

The foundation explained that the concert, held outdoors in Bab Makina, was organized into zones, each with a limited number of places and tickets depending on the zone chosen by spectators. A quota of standing spectators was also admitted.

The Esprit de Fès foundation stressed that when the capacities planned for each space were reached, access management was guided by the highest concern for public safety, specifying that no case of stampede or violent acts was recorded despite the record attendance.

She regretted that some spectators were unable to access the concert, adding that such a situation can occur during open-air concerts, especially when the artists are very popular, reassuring that contacts are underway with the festival-goers concerned in order to to provide all necessary clarifications and adequate responses.

The foundation finally thanked all law enforcement and security agents for their high level of responsibility and courtesy towards the public.
