An exceptional concert by Julia Migenes opens the festival, the 2009 edition of which has as guest of honor, Harrison Ford, emblematic personality of American cinema and faithful friend of the Deauville Festival. The intense emotion of the latter during the evening dedicated to him remains one of the highlights of the 35th edition.

A meeting is proposed with the comedian Andy Gar-cia, to whom the fest-ti-val also pays homage, alongside Robin Wright (at the time Robin Wright Penn), the ZAZ trio (David Zucker, Jim Abra-hams, Jer-ry Zucker) and the filmmaker Robert Aldrich.

To strengthen its identity, and following the competitive presentation of the film Precious – welcomed with enthusiasm by the public and winner of the 2009 Jury Prize -, the Fes-ti-val will adopt the following year as the subtitle for its future editions: “ A precious moment for all cinema lovers”, in English in the text and with the free translation: “A unique moment for all cinema lovers! »

One more edition?

In the editorial of the 2009 catalog, Lionel Chouchan writes, a little mockingly: “Okay: it’s just one more edition! As André (Halimi) could have said: “It’s a year of crisis from which, a priori, the Festival is doing well.” And as Bruno (Bard) would write: “It is the conceptual and ontological trauma of a languid epistemology at its improbable zenith.” Me, I am undoubtedly more romantic than the first and less Literated than the second, I simply say that it is the 35th step of an adventurous ascent which never ceases to amaze and fascinate me. » And which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.
