Generation Z is having less sex than any generation in history, and experts say abstaining from sex could lead to some consequences.

This is what the Daily Mail which notably cites Doctor Tara Suwinyattichaiporn. The one who teaches at California State University indicated that sexually inactive men can suffer from a very rare disease called penile atrophy. The penile tissue may become less elastic, causing the penis to shrink by one to two centimeters.

Tara Suwinyattichaiporn also recalled that going a month or more without having sex can increase stress in both men and women, generating problems with sexual frustration, anxiety, depression and anger.

Researchers determined in 2016 that a man who has at least 21 ejaculations in a month has a lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

Stress

However, it is essential to be in a good state of mind, according to the professor.

“People who are stressed don’t have the ability to enjoy their sexuality,” said Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.

A 2021 study by the University of California found that 38% of young people aged 18 to 30 reported having no sexual partners in the past year.

For her part, sexologist Sari Cooper recalled that an individual in a couple who has been sexually abstinent for a certain time must approach their partner with a certain gentleness to arrive at a compromise.

“Some couples also don’t have the technique to repair conflicts and they blame each other,” she said. “They criticize themselves in order to satisfy their needs.”

“Sometimes one partner may ask to open up the relationship, so they can have their needs met in an ethical way, and other partners may simply engage in sexual infidelity to meet their needs,” she added.

Sari Cooper recommends that all couples who have persistent intimate problems consult a sex therapist.
