The duo Alex and Alex moved dance master Jean-Marc Généreux to tears on Sunday evening with their touching number dealing with memory loss, presented during the face-to-face meetings.

“I am overcome with emotion because you have honored people who give their lives for others. It’s a gift of self and this performance is a gift,” commented the master in a trembling voice, probably shaken by the duo’s powerful performance.

“We didn’t know who we were going to war against so we said to ourselves that we were going to go to war against our own feeling that we have inside of us. We tackled memory loss, those illnesses and circumstances that cause us to forget things and people we love. It’s an extremely big fear for Alex and me,” said Alex Francoeur during an interview with the QMI Agency.

“The idea was to reconnect with the essence of Alex and Alex. Over the years, we have really realized that for us to tell stories and reach out to the public with things or feelings that they know or that they have experienced is super important,” added his partner.

“We use movement and dance, it’s our own art. For us, it’s our way of using art to heal. It’s our way of perhaps putting a little band-aid or setting in motion a situation for which we don’t know what to say or what to do,” continued Alex Francoeur.

The dancer also indicated that all the numbers that the duo will present this season will be drawn from stories that are dear to them, close to them, that touch them.

“For us, the process is sometimes demanding because we seek out testimonies, we talk to people who experience the situations that we transpose into our dances,” the dancers underlined.

“I have the impression that the first time we did “Revolution”, we were children and now we have become adults with maturity and a different way of listening. We have blind trust in each other. It was a gift for us to arrive this year at the show with a different mentality which allowed us to better enjoy and be much calmer during this minute and a half when we are on stage,” added Alex Francoeur , who no longer feels the need to prove the validity of his art, but simply wants to share it.
