Steven Spielberg has announced that he is preparing a new film with David Koepp, the screenwriter of Jurassic Park and of War of the Worlds. The subject of this feature film still remains secret.

Steven Spielberg is back behind the camera. Two years later The Fabelmanswhere he recounted his youth, the American director announced this Thursday, May 23 that he was in full preparation of his 35th feature film.

This film, whose release date is scheduled for May 2026, is presented by the Universal studio as a “new original event film”. If his subject remains secret for the moment, he could talk about UFOs, according to the very informed magazine Variety.

David Koepp, screenwriter of Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds And Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullwrote this still untitled film – based on an original story imagined by Steven Spielberg himself.

Soon a western?

Since the release of The Fabelmans, Steven Spielberg has developed various projects. He confided in 2022 that he wanted to produce a new version of Bullitt, the cult film with Steve McQueen. According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper was chosen to play the title role but the project no longer seems to be on the table.

The American director also told Yahoo in 2021 of his wish to also shoot a western, “the only genre that I haven’t really tackled yet”: “I have several projects in development, but I don’t yet know which one should come first,” he said.
