Prince Louis of Luxembourg discovers 17 disciplines at Martial Arts Night

Prince Louis of Luxembourg went to Dudelange to attend the Martial Arts Night in the presence of the Japanese ambassador. Dozens of disciplines were presented to the public.

Japanese Ambassador Accompanies Prince Louis to Martial Arts Night

Passionate about martial arts and godfather of the Luxembourg Martial Arts Federation (FLAM), Prince Louis of Luxembourg, third son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, attended the Night of Martial Arts (NAM ). The evening took place at the René Hartmann Sports Center in Dudelange. During this demonstration evening, the fighters presented their discipline, some of which are still unknown to the general public.

Prince Louis of Luxembourg was accompanied by Matsubara Tadahiro, Japanese ambassador to Luxembourg. Certain sports such as kickboxing, judo, aikido, taekwondo or karate are disciplines known to everyone. Lesser-known disciplines were presented, such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, yoseikan or hapkido.

Prince Louis was also able to watch a demonstration of aikibudo, a traditional Japanese martial art inspired by the samurai to which he had been introduced just a few weeks ago. Martial Arts Night was also an opportunity to discover kendo, a discipline which is practiced by holding a sword in both hands. Kyudo, on the other hand, is an archery sport.

“The practitioners of 17 disciplines, in front of a captivated audience, showed the specificities of their sport in an impressive show, the result of methodical and diligent work”explains the Maison du Grand-Duc. “Prince Louis and the spectators thanked them all with loud applause.”
