Curtain raises on the 28th edition of the Ecrans Noirs festival in Yaoundé

Created in 1997 by the Cameroonian filmmaker and writer Bassek Ba KobhioBlack Screens” works for the promotion of African cinema on a global scale.

This year the festival will explore the impact ofartificial intelligence on cinematographic creation in Africa. At the center of the exchanges will be in-depth discussions aimed at shedding light on how these emerging technologies are likely to transform narratives and production processes in the field of movie theater.

After celebrating the Senegalese cinema during its previous edition, the festival this time pays particular attention to the young Central African cinemahighlighting emerging talents and innovative productions. During the opening ceremony, two prizes “Honor screens” were awarded, rewarding the work of the Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako and that of the Quebec artist and politician of Cameroonian origin Maka Kottotwo leading figures of African cinema.

Of the projections of films, one conference international, workshops of formationsproduction bases, a film market as well as masterclass will also be on the program for the 28th edition of the “Ecrans Noirs” festival which will continue until October 26.
