It is in the former Carmelite convent, rue des stations in Lille, that the Théâtre de Bibi recently took up residence. This former convent now hosts a theater which aims to be family-friendly and popular. Behind this project, two young Parisians, Camille Aymard and her companion Thomas Dequé. They both fell under the spell of the capital of Flanders and the Wazemmoise chapel.

This crush is not recent for the owners of the place. Camille Aymard fell into theater when she was very young, and for several years, has been hitting the Parisian stages. But when she comes to perform one of her plays in Hallennes-lez-Haubourdin, she really falls in love with the region.

This first crush, followed by the discovery of the old Carmelite convent, will be the reason for his new life. With her partner, she decides to leave Île-de-France, where they are from, to settle in Lille.

They share a common desire, to open their own theater, and with their one and only mission, recalls Camille: ” make you die of laughter.

And to fulfill her mission, Camille brought her whole family on board. That’s good, in the Aymard family, theater is a heritage. There are the parents, Julian and Julie, both theater directors in , actors, directors and writers, the son, also an actor, and Camille, an actress and author.

For us, theater is a family affair.

Camille Aymard, actress

You understand, theater in this family is a real virus. ” For us, theater is a family affair, says the young woman, II’ve always seen my parents play, I’ve always been behind the scenes, that’s all I’ve ever known! My father and mother ran the theater, La Comédie du Onzième, near the Place de la Bastille, in Paris.”. When their daughter tells them about her project, they too do not hesitate to leave everything to join Lille.

From the writing of the plays to the direction, including management and acting, the Théâtre de Bibi is a family story where everyone has a role. Here everything is homemade, the plays are written by Camille or her parents.

Pieces which, for some, have already seduced the Parisian public, such as, Love is beautiful but it always goes to hellone of the eight comedies proposed for the opening of the Theater. But also Welcome to Cafor again, Men are stupid, women are ball-breakers.

Camille’s companion, Thomas, also tried his hand at writing. His first play, We can make anyone believe anything, is also on view in Lille. He defines his humor as “a la Jonathan Cohen. It tells the story of a guy who, during an evening with friends, has fun responding to all the Pôle Emploi adverts and finds himself improvising as a couple’s therapist..”

Crazy and accessible comedies, where spectators can find themselves in everyday life situations, particularly in themes around couples, often approached with a dose of absurd humor.

Camille points out that the theater also offers shows for children, with plays like Pistachio and Peanutsa clownish, fun and educational adventure written by his mother.

On the stage side, while waiting to recruit talent, Camille and her companion Thomas, assure that they are capable of performing all of the shows on the bill. “ We launched castingsspecifies Thomas Dequé, but we won’t take the least worst, we’ll take the best, we want killers!”

And if the nuggets are slow to reveal themselves, Camille can count on her mother and her brother for support, since they are also actors, it’s all a family affair.

  • And by the way, why the Bibi theater?

“Simply the nickname Camille gives me in privateconfides Thomas Dequé. Bibi we thought it sounded good “. A family, friendly side like this new Lille theater, to discover without further delay, for a real laugh. Tickets for adult shows are offered at 16 euros in October, compared to 20€ in normal times . For children, prices start at €9.90. All information, including ticket reservations, is available on the theater website.
