A street art exhibition which is coming to an end, a show which will delight all guitar lovers, a Luidji concert at the Zénith, or even a world premiere at the Garonne theatre. Here are five cultural events not to be missed in Toulouse in the coming days!
#1. Lay-Up Expo, last days
Lay Up, which has been a hit for several years in the Pink City. The idea? Discover urban art in unusual places, often earmarked for demolition or renovation. A stone’s throw from the Saint-Michel metro station, in former Orange premises, new local and international artists have taken over this 3,500 m2 space to offer the general public a renewed exhibition with monumental frescoes, in situ installations of exhibitions of paintings and photographs.
Until October 20, 2024. 11-13 boulevard Delacourtie, 31400 Toulouse. Free participation. More information on the exhibition website.
#2. Glitch Witch, a world premiere at the Théâtre Garonne
This is a bit like the Théâtre Garonne’s trademark: the programming of great international figures. The fruit of a 20-year collaboration with Meg Stuart and her company Damaged Goods, Garonne is therefore hosting the world premiere of this show which she created with the dancer Omagbitse Omagbemi and the musician Mieko Suzuki. The three artists decide to take a look at what co-creation means.
#3. Luidji in concert at the Zénith
Luidji’s songs are unlike any other. They live, they breathe, they surprise, they take you far. Totally organic, they draw a multiple world, never Manichean, palpable magic where feelings mingle like colors on a painter’s palette. We don’t wonder if Luidji sings, raps… we don’t need it. A must see at the Zénith in Toulouse.
At the Zénith in Toulouse, October 17. Prices: €40 to €60.
#4. The International Guitar Show arrives in Toulouse
The International Guitar Show is back at La Cité de Toulouse for a new edition. This completely free show celebrates the guitar in all its forms and invites enthusiasts, amateurs and the curious to come and discover this majestic instrument. More than 100 luthiers will gather to present their know-how. Also on the program? Concerts, but also workshops and demonstrations are also planned. An unmissable show, therefore, for all guitar lovers!
The Guitar Show, October 19 and 20, at the Cité, in Toulouse (55, avenue Louis Bréguet) Free entry. More information on the event website.
#5. Collapsing new buildings in Bikini
Here is a group with an unpronounceable but nevertheless cult name! Since its creation in 1980, Einstürzende Neubauten has built quite a reputation with its industrial music and its assumed radicalism. They are considered unique and atypical, granting great freedom to improvisation. A strange contemporary symphony to discover live!
October 26, at Bikini. Prices: from 37 euros.
