The Montreux Jazz Festival Residency brings together young talents and emblematic figures from the international jazz and soul scenes from October 16 to 19. Concerts, showcases, workshops, jam sessions and DJ sets will bring together Angélique Kidjo, Theo Croker, Macha Gharibian and Jeff Mills this year.

Every evening, the Montreux Jazz Festival Residency will bring together young talents and headliners on stage at the Petit Palais at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace. This free program made up of concerts, showcases, workshops, jam sessions and DJ sets will feature Angélique Kidjo, Theo Croker, Moses Boyd, Macha Gharibian and Jeff Mills.

This public and daily festive nocturnal component punctuates the fall festival organized over four days by the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation (MJAF), which is structured around an artistic residency where eight emerging groups benefit from exchanges with renowned mentors and participate to workshops aimed at developing their careers.

This year, the selection of artists highlights the multicultural richness of jazz with musicians from Cuba, Ivory Coast, Benin, the United States, England, Croatia, Switzerland and even Belgium.

Four Swiss artists and groups in residence

Among the eight mentors of this 2024 edition are the Franco-Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo, the American techno DJ and producer Jeff Mills, the Ivorian bassist Manou Gallo, the American trumpeter Theo Croker, the Franco-Armenian pianist Macha Gharibian, the drummer and English producer Moses Boyd, British saxophonist YolanDa Brown and American drummer Emanuel Harrold.

The eight young groups selected – four international and four Swiss – include Belgian singer and dancer Reinel Bakole, the female duo of Croatian and Slovenian origin Freekind, the Italian group Pipya and The Gang Band and the latest project of British multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Enser titled MATTERS UNKNOWN. On the Swiss side, two German-speaking singers and two Geneva groups are in the spotlight: Argovienne Marlin, Grisonne Mel D, L’Osmose and Dan and the Dynamite.
