80th anniversary of the Landing

“This edition of the Biennale has as its theme the 80th anniversary of the Landing“, explains Guillaume Siret. “And artists have the opportunity to exhibit, free of charge, a work of their choice on the theme of the 80th anniversary. »

For his part, Claude Guillouet will present 10 works in connection with this event. He will also exhibit a very large canvas, almost 4m longwhich was painted for the 60th anniversary of the Landing, at the request of Colonel Gérard Legout, who was at the time director of the Arromanches Landing Museum.

The museum is lending us this work, signed by a hundred veterans, for the duration of the exhibition.

Around this important work, 16 panels will retrace the history of the floating footbridges of Omaha Beach, “These vestiges, of the artificial port used by the Americans during the Landings, are listed as historical heritage”, explains Virois Jean-Pierre Dubuche, history enthusiast and member of the “The Gateways of Omaha” association.
