Sixteen years after “Burn After Reading” by the Coen brothers, the film “Wolfs” directed by Jon Watts once again brings together George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Released on September 27 on Apple TV+, this action comedy features the two stars in the roles of “lone wolves” forced to work together.

In “Wolfs”, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, also co-producers of the film, play two killer-cleaners who find themselves forced to collaborate on a crime scene.

The two characters find themselves mandated for the same job, to dispose of the body of a young boy found in his underwear in the hotel room of an influential magistrate. Clooney and Pitt, colleagues in spite of themselves, are engaged in a crazy night, where everything will go off the rails.

A film that plays on the complicity of the two stars

With this action comedy, American director Jon Watts, to whom we owe the latest “Spiderman” trilogy, offers a sort of ego-trip to the two American stars in a film where most of the action is based on shot-reverse shot dialogues between Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and which plays on the complicity and self-deprecation of the two stars without, however, keeping all of its promises.

The film was recently presented out of competition at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. “As soon as I read the script, as soon as we arrived on set, I felt this way of joking between us, of bickering all time, it was so obvious,” George Clooney said at a press conference during the presentation of “Wolfs.”

Despite its choice casting, “Wolfs” had a limited release in theaters in certain countries, before its worldwide broadcast on the Apple TV+ platform on September 27.
