Mérinchal. Of the pen and the sword with Souleymane Diamanka. Hélios likes to take his theater through the musical paths of the world through chance encounters. Souleymane Diamanka’s slam is a big drunken boat, where the cascading rhymes come out in full sail to inflate the power of the words and make them a weapon of reconstruction for women and men of good will:
“It is the poet’s pen
Against the warrior’s sword.
It is the weight of the beautiful text
Against the powder in the barrel.
It’s the pen in the hand
Against the knife in the wound. »
Between France and Senegal
Souleymane Diamanka was born in Dakar and grew up in Bordeaux. He learned French at school and discovered Peul, a Berber language from West Africa, at home. What could have been a tug of war turns into a magical complement of discoveries of words and stories from an inexhaustible source of life.
Bathed between two cultures, Souleymane converted to slam within the collective 129 H. His first album “L’hiver peul” followed in 2007. The poet with the deep voice of griots recorded a second album in 2015 in Senegal.
From his third album “De la plume et de l’école”, Souleymane Diamanka, author, director and performer, has released a single on stage, “One Poet Show”. A beautiful way of playing with words as with the balls of childhood, a bit in the way that wanderers used to do in order to bring an extra bit of soul to the countryside they crossed. A show which should also delight the local “troubadours” Jehan and Laurent!
