Fans of The Night Agent have reason to rejoice! The series with Gabriel Basso has just been renewed for a season 3 of 10 episodes while season 2 has not yet been broadcast! Unfortunately this good news is accompanied by less encouraging news. Indeed, Netflix subscribers will have to wait a little longer than expected to discover season 2 of the hit series. Initially planned for 2024, season 2 will finally be broadcast in winter 2025leaving almost two years of waiting between season 1, released on the streaming platform on March 23, 2023, and season 2. But the wait is worth it. With 98.2 million views in its first 91 days of broadcast, The Night Agent has earned a place in Netflix’s top 10 most viewed English-speaking series of all time.
The Night Agent : why such a wait before season 2?
This delay is mainly due to the consequences of the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood. The second season was announced on March 29, 2023 but the strike, which began a few weeks later, delayed the writing of the new season by five months. After the end of the strikes, The Night Agent was subject to a very tight schedule, and production started at the beginning of February 2024, a deadline unfortunately too short to hope for broadcast in 2024.
The Night Agent : good news for season 3
While we saw Peter take off from Washington on a private jet for his first mission as a Night Action spy, the first episode of season 2 seems to take place in an Asian city if we are to believe the first images . Gabriel Basso appears alongside Luciane Buchanan, already present in season 1, as well as Amanda Warren, newcomer to the series. Later, we find them in New York, with the Skyline in the background. For season 3, fans will be delighted to learn that the wait should be shorter since Netflix has already commissioned a team of writers to work on the new salvo. Filming should also begin very soon with the first scenes in Istanbul at the end of 2024, followed by filming in New York in 2025.
