Oboeist Louis Baumann in concert in Lembach

The Saint-Jacques church in Lembach will welcome oboist Louis Baumann this Sunday, October 13, for a concert which will begin at 5 p.m.

Louis Baumann began playing the oboe with Christophe Le Divenah at the music school. From a young age, he expressed the desire to play in an orchestra. His very first musical experience was at the Musique Union in Preuschdorf.

Principal oboe at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra

Louis joined Sébastien Giot’s class at the conservatory where he obtained his diploma in musical studies (DEM). After a stint in the region in the class of Hélène Devilleneuve then Johannes Grosso, he was admitted in 2015 to the National Conservatory of Music in in the class of Jean-Louis Capezzali and Jérôme Guichard. Upon graduation, in 2018 he joined the Zurich Opera Academy for two seasons under the mentorship of Bernhard Henrichs and Clément Noël.

At the end of 2019, Louis Baumann was appointed, through competition, principal English horn at the National Orchestra and then, immediately, principal oboe within the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, a position he currently holds. In October 2021, he won the 3e ex aequo prize in the Geneva international competition. He is a regular guest of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and other groups of excellence in Europe.
