New episode in the Cauet affair. On May 24, the former NRJ host was indicted for rape and sexual assault on four women. But, in a press release released this Tuesday, October 8, his lawyers welcomed “that one of the people who tried to extort funds from him on the basis of false allegations is currently in police custody in the police premises in Paris”.
If his lawyers see this as confirmation “extortion attempts of which Sébastien Cauet is a victim“, the former star host of NRJ remains under investigation. In May, he notably was placed under judicial supervision with the obligation to pay a bond of 100,000 euros and to undergo treatment.
The courts also refused him to return to the air. The facilitator asked compensation after his withdrawal from the NRJ antenna to the tune of 4.4 million euros. He also demanded to get his job back after the station decided to stop his show in November 2023.
The trial between Sébastien Cauet and NRJ took place on March 18, 2024.

For his part, the host has always proclaimed his innocence. “We hope that the prosecution will take seriously the slander of which he has been the victim for a year and for which he filed a complaint in November 2023”assert his lawyers, before concluding: “The exploitation of sexual violence by cynical and unscrupulous people requires flawless prosecution from the judicial authority.”
Contacted, the lawyers have not yet responded to our requests. The identity of the person in custody is not known.
In total, five complaints have been filed against Sébastien Cauet since November 2023. The first of them, Julie, originally from Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire) had filed a complaint with the Saint-Laurent-sur-Saône gendarmerie in the ‘Ain. A minor at the time of the events she denounced, Julie declared that she was not “surprised” that others followed suit in accusing the host: “I’m the little country girl from 71. If he could have done it to me… there are people in Paris. He could have done it to others.”

Following these revelations, Julie had a very bad time afterwards. “You remember everything: at the beginning they ask you basic questions about your sex life, about your practices… then they ask you how the assault and the rape took place, make you remember the details, asking you to drawing… it both relieved and destroyed me”she told France 3 Bourgogne last May.

“So to forget all that, I fell into alcoholism. I also lost my job – being in the civil service, it wasn’t too good for me to become “media”. Now, I’m hospitalized for the trauma and alcohol addiction I dreamed about it, I thought about it all the time, it was obsessive.
