Kingdom Hearts takes time, it’s a secret. Two years after the announcement of the 4th part, what do we really know about it?
Where is Kingdom Hearts 4?
2 years later, we still have no information on Kingdom Hearts IV. A new adventure for Sora about which we still know nothing. As a reminder, the first part of the saga was released in 2002. We had to wait 3 years to have the second part of the saga and 14 years to have the third.
So of course, between these numbered episodes, others were released in the meantime, adding lore to the license while complexifying the plot at the same time. But we would like to see KH4 arrive: according to some rumors, the title will arrive in 2025.
What story this time?
If we don’t know much about the release date, its story also remains unclear. We know, for example, that this new title will open a whole new arc, after the previous one which lasted more than 18 years.. As a reminder, Kingdom Hearts was supposed to be a crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy before the part with Final Fantasy gradually disappeared to leave more room for the Disney side.
However, what we do know is that the game will be a sort of storyline reboot. It must be said that the storyline of Kingdom Hearts is quite complicated even for its creator who admits that he often has difficulty with his own story. Moreover, the screenwriter already had ideas for KH4 at the time of Kingdom Hearts III.
A sequel which could also be Nomura’s last game. Aged 53, he could retire within a few years, but would like to finish the Kingdom Hearts saga before that.which could indicate that this episode will be the start of a new arc and also the conclusion of the saga. The title is planned for PS5 and Xbox Series and will run under Unreal Engine 5.
