This exhibition is the result of an artistic residency at the Museum of Contemporary Printing in Guanlan, China, where Moroccan artist Khalid El Bekay had the opportunity to collaborate with Wei Yuhang, professor of graphic art at the Shenzhen University. Together, they explore the themes of cultural identity and artistic exchange, thus creating a bridge between their two countries.
In parallel with the exhibition, a wood engraving workshop, led by Wei Yuhang, has already started at the Marsam gallery in Casablanca. This workshop is an invitation to discover traditional printmaking techniques, allowing participants to experiment and learn about this captivating art form. The exchanges that take place there are an opportunity to forge links between cultures and share unique know-how.
This event is part of a series of initiatives aimed at enriching the cultural offerings of Bouskoura. Under the aegis of the Basma Art Gallery and with the coordination of Khalid El Bekay, the objective is clear: to stimulate interest in art and culture, while strengthening international exchanges. “The Silk Road” is in fact the fourth exhibition in this series, preceded by collaborations with artists from Poland, Bulgaria and Spain.
