A sum that is enough to turn heads. This Friday, October 4, 2024, 160 million euros are up for grabs in EuroMillions. The draw for this mega jackpot is for tonight, around 9 p.m.. You can play until 8:15 p.m.
After the drawing last Friday and Tuesday, the jackpot, which grew from week to week, has still not found a taker. How to play and how high can the amount go ? Explanations.
How does EuroMillions work?
Before understanding why the winnings have increased, let’s dive into how EuroMillions works.
The jackpot corresponds to rank 1. If there are several winners who match the five correct numbers and the two star numbers, this jackpot is divided between the winners. The same operation applies for winnings of lower ranks.
“Apart from the jackpot, winnings can range from a few euros for basic combinations to hundreds of thousands of euros for intermediate ranks,” indicates Française des Jeux on its site.
Once this level is reached, this jackpot can be brought back into play for a maximum of four successive draws. If there is still no winner, it is “automatically redistributed to the second-ranked winner(s).
What is the ceiling?
The basic jackpot? 17 million euros minimum. “In the continued absence of a rank 1 winner, the jackpot increases with each drawing depending on the bets made, up to a “first rank ceiling” which is defined today at 250 million euros” , explains the FDJ on its site.
This mega jackpot, only brought into play 3 to 5 times a year, rises to “at least 130 million euros”, according to the FDJ regulations.
