Adrien Legrand promises “a big show”. On May 31 and June 1, 2024, the association Chato’s life organizes the second edition of its festival Chato PartyAt Hermival Castle has Hermival-les-Vaux (Calvados).

1,500 people per evening

The first edition, organized over one evening in June 2022, allowed us to “test the place and the public”, underlines the director of the festival, and owner of the castle, which he is making available for the occasion. The meeting was crowned with success, and was sold out with 650 people.

Enough to give confidence to the volunteers of La vie de Chato: the festival, which should be organized every two years, must reach cruising speed this year with two evenings, and 1,500 people expected each evening.

“From Los Angeles to Hermival-les-Vaux”

It’s never easy to attract headliners when you’re a very young festival. This is why Adrien Legrand has a smile on his face when he talks about the programming for this edition. Friday, Joachim Garraud, will end the evening in style. The DJ is one of the pioneers of electronic music in France:

“He has collaborated with David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and Laurent Garnier… He is a big name in electro. For the record, he will play the weekend before in Los Angeles… And there, he will be in Hermival-les-Vaux! »

Adrien Legrand

On Saturday, the association’s forty volunteers are happy to welcome Julien Granel And Joseph Kamel. The first “was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in the “Stage Revelation” category”: “He’s a ball of energy on stage! »

As for the Franco-Egyptian artist, revealed by the telecrochet “The Artist”, he was nominated for the NRJ Music Awards, in the “French-speaking revelation of the year” category: “He’s a Norman (he’s from Caen, editor’s note) which is in the process of exploding, notes Adrien Legrand. He released a duet with Julien Doré. »

Rock, electro, pop, French song…

The program is also made up of groups DNVR (soul/blues), Scratchophone Orchestra (electro-swing) and Kind of Queen, tribute which will perform the greatest hits of Freddie Mercury’s group. The DJ A-Tone will close the festival with an electro-house set to “transform the castle courtyard into a giant club”.

And to launch the event on Friday, La vie de Chato invited the school of rock, made up of students from Lechanteur college in Caen: “It’s cool to encourage this kind of project. »

Electro, rock, pop, soul, French song, the organizers wanted the program to be “eclectic” and “well within the idea of the festival, with artists from the new generation”. And above all, “quality”.

“We do everything like the grown-ups”

In terms of infrastructure too, Chato Party is changing dimensions. During the first edition, a stage was installed at the foot of the castle. This time, a “real big festival stage” will be set up in front of the 16th century building: “The technique followed the line-up. »

Light show, cashless bracelets for consumption… Even if the festival wants to preserve its “intimate” side, on a human scale, “we do everything like the big guys”, smiles Adrien Legrand.

Free shuttles

“The festival parking lot will be at the Lisieux racecourse,” announces Adrien Legrand. Throughout the duration of the festival, free shuttles (on presentation of the ticket) will be set up in partnership with the Lisieux Normandy urban community. They will connect the racecourse and the Hermival castle, passing through the city center of Lisieux.

Hermival Castle will be highlighted by Homek, 2flui and Le Mec Blasé. Using a trompe-l’oeil, the three street artists will give the illusion that they are creating graffiti on the facade of the building: “They will create an ephemeral work during the two days. This will be the common thread of the festival. »
