Wednesday May 8 at 9 p.m. at the Oum-Kalsoum auditorium in Figeac, the third edition of Fi’Jazz will open, with Tristan Melia, a talented pianist of the new generation, astonishing by his musical maturity and his mastery of improvisation.

It was at the age of 9 that he literally fell in love with the piano, a love that would never leave him, constantly nourished by the jazzy swirls, poured out in abundance by Michel Petrucciani, Michel Legrand and Barney Willem. He took lessons and decided at the age of 12 to become a professional pianist. At 18, he met the pianist Giovanni Mirabassi who encouraged him and gave him advice. He recorded “A moment far from you” his first EP. At the age of less than 20, he joined the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence conservatory and obtained his DEM in jazz.

Taking the time to live, he goes through concerts, private parties and other activities which allow him to enrich himself musically, which leads him to the recording of a first album, entitled “No problem”. The balance of compositions and melodies highlights the extent of Tristan Mélia’s talent.

Activities and interventions on the sidelines of the festival

Alongside the festival concerts, many activities are put in place by the organizers and various partners during the festival: cultural mediation with the ChoCho Cannelle group, for students from the music schools of Grand Figeac, Figeac, Cajarc, Assier and Ségala Limargue . The final restitution will take place on Thursday May 9 at 2 p.m. at the Oum-Kalsoum auditorium.

Still in partnership with the music school, but also the Champollion high school and Cemea, a welcome for budding web journalists has been established.
A partnership which should prove rather festive, has been established with the bar-brasserie La Monnaie and the store Le Fa# for the various jam sessions which, from Wednesday May 8 to Saturday May 11, will end with music every evening. Not forgetting the completely free concert by the Dark Jack Oddson Band, which will take place on Wednesday May 8 at 6 p.m. at the partner store Le Fa#.
