Angoulême is renowned for its animation studios. It is also the second center in this field in France after Paris. And among these studios, we count Ellipse Animation which is currently completing the creation of a cartoon for France Télévisions.
It’s an original creation that took two years of work at the Ellipse Animation studio in Angoulême. Belfort and Lupine is a 2D and 3D cartoon whose action takes place in the Palace of Versailles, as explained to us Antoine Ormieresproduction director at Ellipse Animation: “ The characters, the accessories used by them, as well as the animation are made in 3D, but the settings are made entirely in 2D. »
Around a hundred people worked on this project and during our filming, we were able to attend one of the last artistic meetings in the presence of the director of this animated series, Philippe Vidal : “We will see the color directions in which we are going to go, everything related to special effects, the management of blurs… All of this will really take shape at that moment. »

And if this original work was able to be born here, it is thanks to the reputation acquired by the Angoulême image sector, as told to us Arnaud Réguilletstudio director at Ellipse Animation: “We are in a pool with many artists, many technicians available here. This pool is constantly fed by the network of schools established for 25 years by Magelis and we find all the professionals we need here.“
The animated series Belfort et Lupine will be broadcast on France Télévisions at the end of the year.
