“Leo was on his knees!”: Kate Winslet reveals about “Titanic”

Because she will probably forever be Rose from “Titanic”, Kate Winslet, even if she has since demonstrated the extent of her talent, must still answer questions about James Cameron’s film. Monday, during the preview screening of her latest film, the actress who will celebrate her 49th birthday next week, was once again asked about the final scene of the cult film. And she revealed details that will make you look at the sequence in a completely different way!

The water scene was filmed “in an uncomfortable, overflowing tank a few metres across,” she explained, adding that the water was not as deep as it appeared on screen. “It was waist deep,” she said. “Leo was on his knees, I’m afraid to tell you,” she joked. “I shouldn’t tell you all this, James Cameron is going to call me,” she added with a laugh.

Released in 1997, the film has had over 135 million admissions worldwide and generated over $2.2 billion, making Titanic the biggest hit in world cinema until 2010 and the release of “Avatar” (by the same James Cameron). It won eleven Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Best Original Song with “My Heart Will Go On”, performed by Celine Dion.

Kate Winslet stars in “Lee Miller” (out October 4) where she plays the former “Vogue” model who became a war photographer during World War II.
