Five days full of laughter. The eighth edition of the CineComedies festival takes place in Lens-Liévin from May 30 to June 3 and the organizers have just revealed the program. Key figures of French comedy will be honored through previews, awards and anniversary screenings spread between the towns of Lens, Liévin, Avion, Harnes and Vendin-le-Vieil.

· Dany Boon and Sandrine Kiberlain in preview

And who says laughing in , says Dany Boon. The famous actor returns to the North for the opening of the festival with The Hennedricks Family, the first feature film of actress Laurence Arné. The couple, in life and on screen, play the parents of a blended family going on a road trip to the Atlantic coast in the hope of strengthening the bonds between their respective sons.

Another film presented in preview during the festival, The Little Mop is headlined by Sandrine Kiberlain, Daniel Auteuil and Denis and Bruno Podalydès, the latter also being the director. After a road trip on the Atlantic coast, this comedy will take the viewer on a journey on the water.

While France will live to the rhythm of the Olympic Games this summer, CineComedies has planned a whole program around sport. The music group Les Charlots will be honored through two films Stadium Foolsby Claude Zidi, and The Great Javaby Philippe Clair.

The Bicycle of Ghislain Lambert with Benoît Poelvoorde and José Garcia will also be presented as will three short films: That’s polo! by Del Lord, Take care of your left by René Clément and Charlot boxer with Charlie Chaplin.

CineComedies will also be an opportunity to celebrate comedy classics during anniversary screenings. The famous Gendarme of Saint-Tropez will therefore be projected on the big screen just like, Ghosts with Louis de Funès, Jean Marais and Mylène Demongeot.

A tribute to the composer Gérard Calvi will be paid during the screening of The Gaspards, the film by Pierre Tchernia with, among others, Michel Serrault, Philippe Noiret and Michel Galabru. Restored versions of More beautiful than me you die and D’An Indian in the city will also be presented – in the presence of Patrick Timsit for the second – and The Blues Brothers will be screened outdoors in Liévin.

Finally, Cinecomedies wanted to pay tribute to the Provençal author Marcel Pagnol, whose 50th anniversary of his death is being celebrated on Thursday April 18 with the screening of The Schpountz.

A woman will be honored at the festival this year: Valérie Lemercier. The actress and director will receive the CineComedies prize, a new creation from the organizers. “In 2024, the festival decided to create a CineComedies Prize in order to honor artists who have largely contributed to the art of comedy,” they explain.

Valérie Lemercier is therefore the very first winner of this new prize, and will therefore present her first two creations for the occasion: Quadrille And The bottom.

Valérie Lemercier, Dany Boon, Laurence Arné, Jean Sarrus and Jean-Guy Fechner, Mathilda May, Yves Calvi, Patrick Timsit, Vincent Fernandel, Esteban (son of Philippe Clair are therefore among the first guests announced for this 2024 edition. Others Announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

Please note that the ticket office is only open for the opening session, The Hennedricks Familyand that it will soon be for the rest.
