After the resounding success of Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. is determined to repeat the feat a second time and satisfy Harry Potter fans once again with a sequel.

The successor to Hogwarts Legacy

In view of the undeniable success of‘Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy – let’s remember that the game sold more than 24 million copies in January 2024, it’s hard to believe that Warner would have decided to abandon the license. And if a sequel had not yet been confirmed by Warner Bros, this time, a new project has indeed been mentioned. Thus, during the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discover CFO Gunnar Widenfels expressly mentioned the “successeur d’Hogwarts Legacy“, as reported Variety.

Obviously, the successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities for the coming years. So there is certainly a significant contribution of this (games) activity to our strategic vision.

The Future of Warner Bros. Games

It’s unclear what Gunnar Widenfels means by “successor,” but the CFO is most likely talking about a direct sequel, or another Hogwarts Legacy game. Either way, Warner Bros. Games wants to further capitalize on the Harry Potter universe in the years to come. The Hollywood studio’s subsidiary recently released Quidditch Champions a game dedicated to the famous sport of the universe of the apprentice wizards, but which has no connection with Hogwarts Legacy. But if Harry Potter seems to be a safe bet for Warner Bros., the firm also admits to having suffered some failures. At the top, we find Suicide Squad : Kill the Justice LeagueRocksteady’s latest title that was a resounding failure. A “missed” opportunity according to Gunnar Widenfels, but one that doesn’t change the studio’s plans for its gaming subsidiary.
