Togo forced an exciting draw with a score of two goals each against its host, Equatorial Guinea, today, Monday, in the second round of matches in Group Five of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The home side were the first to open the scoring through Louis Nlavo in the 17th minute before Togo equalised in the dying moments of the first half through Roger Aholo.

In the second half, Janick Boyla added the second goal for Equatorial Guinea in the 75th minute, and before the match breathed its last, Laba Kodjo equalized the score with a fatal equalizer for Togo in the last seconds of stoppage time.

Togo has two points in second place, while Equatorial Guinea has one point in third place.

Equatorial Guinea lost to Algeria 2-0 in the first round, while Togo tied with Liberia 1-1 in the last round.

The national team managed to achieve a valuable victory over the Equatorial Guinea national team, with a score of one goal to zero, within the framework of the first round of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The first goal of the match was scored by Algerian international Houssem Aouar in the 70th minute with a header after a shot from captain Riyad Mahrez was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Substitute Amin Gouiri added the second goal for the national team in the 90+5 minute, so that the “Greens” ended the match with an important advantage after achieving 3 points in the qualifiers for the “CAN” Morocco.

The national team players gave an unconvincing performance throughout the ninety minutes, as the first half of the match ended in a goalless draw, which witnessed the absence of scoring opportunities, and the captain, Riyad Mahrez, missing a penalty kick in the 23rd minute of the first half.

The cubs of national coach Vladimir Petkovic hope to achieve a second victory that will pave the way for them to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
