Strategy – Studios plan to produce longer formats, in several seasons

Deadpool & Wolverine and its billion in international sales comes at just the right time for Marvel Studios, which has been struggling since a failed 2023 and the failures of its latest releases: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, Secret Invasion, Echo…

Something to think about for the leaders who have decided to change course, particularly concerning the series broadcast on Disney+. Like Agatha All Along, airing from September 19. Brad Winderbaum, head of animation and television, already declared at the beginning of the year on ComicBook.com: “We have a new strategy at Marvel. We now look more like a traditional studio. We develop more than we actually produce.” Less production means fewer releases, but more “developed” releases, therefore potentially longer.

For Entertainment Weekly, he explains: “Today, we think of it more like traditional television, where shows can last for several seasons and characters evolve over, hopefully, many years. We’re currently developing multiple shows simultaneously. In some ways, we’re creating more traditional television series, where we write pilots and bibles before deciding on a series.
