-

The man suspected of shooting Lilian Dejean, 49, a municipal agent during a road accident Sunday in Grenoble has been identified by investigators, the Grenoble prosecutor confirmed on Monday, September 9. He is still actively being sought at this time.

Four searches took place yesterday and today in places where the suspect, known to the courts for various common law offences, is likely to live.

Rental car

It was around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday when a traffic accident involving two cars occurred on Boulevard Jean Pain in Grenoble, a downtown artery near the town hall. A municipal agent from the urban cleaning service, who had just started his shift, came to the aid of the motorists.

Seeing that the driver of the Audi RS3, responsible for the accident, the municipal officer tried to restrain him. The man pulled out a gun before firing twice. The man has since been actively sought. Investigators have discovered that the vehicle involved is in fact a rental car registered in Poland.

“Everything is being done to arrest the perpetrator of this atrocious crime,” insisted Mayor Éric Piolle during a press briefing on Monday afternoon.

A tribute was paid on Monday, September 9 at the foot of Grenoble City Hall. “We are in mourning in tribute to a public official, a father, a grandfather, a union activist, a comrade, a colleague, a figure appreciated by all,” the mayor testified.
