NEW 007 – The star of “Wednesday” would prefer to see a new franchise featuring a woman

Jenna Ortega doesn’t really see the point in making female-fronted remakes of cult films with male heroes. During an interview with MTV () alongside her co-star Beetlejuice BeetlejuiceCatherine O’Hara, the 21-year-old star gave her opinion on the Hollywood trend, mentioning in passing the interminable debate surrounding the identity of the new James Bond.

“I love that there are a lot more female leads these days. I think it’s really special. But we should have our own,” she said. “I don’t like it when it’s a spin-off – I don’t want to see a ‘Jamie Bond’. I want to see a new badass.” A view shared by Barbara Broccoli, the long-time producer of the James Bond franchise.

“I think the next James Bond will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond,” she said in 2021. “I believe in creating characters for women and not just having women play men’s roles.”
