The sordid and the gloomy have no country. This time, the heart-wrenching story takes place in Turkey. The body of an 8-year-old girl, missing for nineteen days, was found in a bag placed in a river. The discovery was made in the province of Diyarbakir, in the southeast of the country, one kilometer from the village where she lived with her family.
“Unfortunately, the lifeless body of Narin, who went missing in Tavsantepe village of Baglar district in Diyarbakir, was found by our gendarmerie teams,” Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X.
Suspicions fall on the girl’s family
“Narin Güran was found dead wearing the same clothes as the last time she was seen. […] “According to initial observations, she was put in a bag after being killed. The bag was then placed in the river, hidden under branches and stones so as not to arouse suspicion,” added Diyarbakir Governor Murat Zorluoglu.
