For the first wave in 2024 of the “Proof of concept” call for the Horizon Europe framework program, the European Research Council (ERC) has selected 100 projects, including ten in France, two of which have the CNRS as host institution.
Since the program’s introduction in 2011, the ERC has funded more than 2,000 projects through Proof of Concept grants. Liana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, welcomed this and declared on this subject: “Since 2011, when the program was launched, ERC grant recipients have received more than €300 million for Proof of Concept. Thanks to funding from Horizon Europe, they were able to move from cutting-edge research to innovation. These researchers are an excellent example of how EU-funded research results can be translated and commercialized“.
This call is aimed at scientists who have already been awarded an ERC grant (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced or Synergy) less than a year previously and who wish to promote the results of their research, develop their innovation potential and become bring closer to a market. For a maximum amount of 150,000 euros over a maximum of 18 months, these grants therefore support the commercial and societal potential of former ERC projects.
The European Research Council (ERC) has selected 134 candidate projects for the second wave of the “Proof of concept” call of the Horizon Europe framework program, including 10 in France and 5 for which the CNRS is the host institution.
