The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, announces that she is under hormonal therapy for breast cancer diagnosed three years ago

Fourth person in the State, Yaël Braun-Pivet speaks for the first time about his illness, in particular to encourage women to get tested.

She describes the diagnosis as “a bolt from the blue”. Yaël Braun-Pivet announced on Friday January 10 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, in 2022. The President of the National Assembly spoke in an interview with Maïtena Biraben for her online media Mesdames. “Today I am fine”confides the politician, member of the presidential party Ensemble pour la République, and elected to the post in July 2022. “I am on hormonal therapy and I am followed regularly by a team of caregivers who throughout this process have been tremendously committed and dedicated.”

Elected MP for Yvelines in 2017, and re-elected in 2022 then in 2024, Yaël Braun-Pivet launches a call for screening in this interview. She says she made an appointment for a mammogram in 2022, “in the series of New Year’s resolutions”. “Like many, I have sometimes left the envelopes from the national screening campaign or my doctor’s prescription lying around on the living room table. (…) So, if you have to make a good resolution at the start year, I can only recommend that you go get tested.”
