The Mammobile to detect breast cancer was back, Wednesday January 8 and Thursday January 9 in Villegly then in Montreal near Carcassonne. Around thirty patients have benefited from this free device to fight against this disease.
There were around thirty of them, aged 50 to 74, who made an appointment to be screened for breast cancer. Indeed, the mobile made its return to Aude territory – on Wednesday 8 in Villegly and Thursday, January 9 in Montreal. This system aims to go directly to meet patients to prevent breast cancer, which is the most common in women and constitutes the main cause of cancer mortality.
Thus, patients were able to benefit from a real clinical examination by a general practitioner; a palpation followed by a mammogram. This is a free, painless test that takes less than 20 minutes. In the country, only 36% of women in this age group have a mammogram every two years. An extremely low figure which fully justifies this initiative.

This system is also supported by Carcassonne Agglo. “This device makes it possible to bring radiology to patients in rural areas. Poverty and mobility problems do not always allow access to care”states Bruno Giacommel,
deputy vice-president for health and access to community care.
