The flu epidemic is still ongoing but the next season is already being prepared. To best anticipate their production volumes, laboratories will suggest that pharmacists order vaccines now for the 2025-2026 campaign. An approach that will allow them to ensure an adequate supply for immunizations next fall.
The 2025-2026 campaign will be based on vaccines from Sanofi, Seqirus and Viatris laboratories (Vaxigrip, Flucelvax produced in cell culture and Influvac). The trivalent form of Efluelda, Sanofi’s high-dose vaccine withdrawn from the French market in 2024, is currently being evaluated by the High Authority for Health. The recommendations of global and European authorities regarding the switch to trivalent vaccines excluding the B/Yamagata strain should apply for this next campaign. “However, as all authorizations have not yet been issued, pharmaceutical laboratories will offer a pre-order based on the quadrivalent vaccine already reimbursed by Health Insurance. » The final order will be made on the basis of the trivalent vaccine when the authorizations have been issued, it is specified.
