MONTRÉAL, Dec 19 2024 /CNW/ – Santé Québec invites the population to choose the right health service according to their needs and the severity of their condition, all in order to avoid hospital emergencies.
“Last spring, alongside the arrival of Santé Québec, preparation for the winter period began. The establishments planned their actions in a concerted manner, benefiting from enhanced sharing of information and expertise between the different stakeholders in the network grouped by Santé Québec. All health services have been called upon and will play an important role during this period,” declared Robin-Marie ColemanAssistant Vice-President, Coordination of Access and Care Trajectories, at Santé Québec.
During the winter period, and even more so during the holiday season, it is essential to use the right health service to meet your needs:
- Your pharmacist : Just like 811, your pharmacy is a resource where you can obtain valuable information and even various treatments.
- Medical clinics : Family Medicine Groups (GMF) or virtual consultations for non-urgent health problems are preferred.
- The 811 et the First Line Access Counter (GAP) : If you are sick, before heading to the hospital, start by contacting Info-Santé or Info-Social to obtain medical or psychosocial advice. Simply call 811. Cet call will allow you to get health advice from your home. Patients without a family doctor can still access the First Line Access Center (GAP) by dialing 811, option 3.
- Emergencies for serious situations : Although they are always open, hospital emergency rooms are not always the best option. However, if you suffer from chest pain, breathing difficulties or you have serious injuries, do not hesitate to go there.
“We will closely monitor what happens in the coming weeks in order to offer the best care and services to the population during this intense time of the year in the network,” added, Mme Coleman.
Warm thanks to the staff
Santé Québec would like to thank all the health and social services staff who will continue to work with dedication during the holiday season. Their commitment ensures the continuity of care and services for the population.
The state company reminds everyone that it is there to support its teams in the field. “Together, let us be united and responsible in order to experience a healthy and safe holiday season,” concluded Robin-Marie Coleman.
