“Nearly a million diabetics who don’t know they are”
The aim of this annual campaign is to be able to give as many adults of all ages as possible a chance to detect the disease early in order to quickly take the necessary measures. A field action
Screening is carried out in the public domain, thus making it possible to inform as many people as possible about diabetes and its risks, and to remind people of the importance of nutrition and healthy lifestyle.
Organized for the third time by the Avranches-Mont-Saint-Michel Lions Club, this free screening is reserved for adults of all ages. It is carried out by doctors and nurses who will provide information, analyze the blood glucose results and advise people found to be at risk. In 2022, during the first screening day organized in Avranches, 337 tests were carried out, and 18 cases required a medical check-up. Last year, this day allowed 624 tests to be carried out, of which 34 cases were found to be out of range, requiring control by a family doctor.
